A story you don’t tell doesn’t disappear. It just gets heavier.
Our why is the same: your voice matters, and we’re more alike than the world makes us believe. It starts the same way every time — you say the thing. So we built the room for that. Not therapy. Not a speaking club. Just a place that meets you exactly where you are.
No résumé. No bio. No perfect story. No need to have it all figured out. We listen without fixing. We share without performing. We built the room, and we protect it.
The room hums. Familiar faces, new ones. Nothing staged, everything intentional.
Take the mic, or simply witness. Five minutes are yours, hers, or someone else's to keep.

HERstory is a private, intentionally curated experience where women step into their voice. This is not a traditional event. It's a room designed for honesty, reflection, and growth.

After each talk, attendees spend a few minutes writing reflections for the speaker. Each speaker leaves with thoughtful notes from the room.

Yes. HERstory Night is specifically designed for speakers and non-speakers alike. We believe that everyone deserves a supportive place to practice sharing their voice. You’re welcome to share a story, reflection, or idea in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
Speakers have about 5 minutes to share a story, idea, or reflection. It doesn’t need to be polished or rehearsed. HERstory Night is meant to be a supportive place to use your voice, even if you don’t feel 100% ready.
The Human Library is our connection wall. Participants can choose to share a photo, name, and one social or website link so women can stay connected after the event. The wall will appear at HERstory Night and may also be shared digitally. Participation is completely optional.
A rotating board of trusted women reviews every application. They’re not looking for the most polished speaker or the most impressive résumé. You don’t need any speaking experience at all. What they’re looking for is honesty, how connected you are to your own story, and how the stories in a given room work together to create something diverse and meaningful.
Complimentary on-site parking is available at The Jefferson Hub, located at 950 Selden Street, Detroit, MI 48201. Look for HERstory signage when you arrive to guide you to the designated entrance. We recommend arriving a little early to give yourself time to park, check in, and settle in before the evening begins.
Additional parking instructions will be shared with registered guests before the event if needed.
